Kevin Garcia Scores The Winner In Overtime To Put L.A. Wolves FC Into State Cup Final

With Both Teams Down To 10 Players, Garcia Nets Goal In CalSouth State Cup Semifinal

May 25, 2017 -- Los Angeles - L.A. Wolves FC is on to its first tournament final of 2017.

Kevin Garcia scored in overtime as L.A. Wolves FC defeated Moreno Valley Futbol Club, 4-3, in a CalSouth Adult State Cup 2017 semifinal round game at Azusa Pacific University's Cougar Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

The club moves on to play FC Long Beach (USASA) in the CalSouth Adult State Cup Championship Game, site and time to be determined. Both teams have qualified for the 2017 USASA National Cup.

L.A. Wolves FC President and General Manager Yan Skwara said, "We've had a good tournament but we know there's still plenty to play for and attain. We're playing well right now and we're not going to take our foot off the gas peddle for one moment. This is the most important stretch of games in the club's history, and we're not going to let any opportunity pass us by. FC Long Beach is a good team, but we want to be USASA Region IV Champions."

L.A. Wolves FC grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute but trailed, 3-1, and were down a man until two late goals from Paolo Cardozo (84th min.) and Xavier Ikaika (87th min.) pulled the game even and pushed it into overtime, where Garcia finished it off with his first goal of the tournament.

L.A. Wolves FC defeated San Pedro Monsters, 4-1, in a CalSouth Adult State Cup quarterfinal in April, and had been set to play Moreno Valley FC on Sunday, May 7, at SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco (Calif.) until a lightning storm forced the game to be rescheduled.

Unable to find a new date at SilverLakes, the game was moved to Cougar Sports Complex where Wolves FC has hosted and won its last to Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament games.

The club is currently third in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Pro Premier Division Western Conference, and next plays Orange County SC in a 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Third Round Game at Cougar Soccer Complex (635 E. Foothill Blvd., Azusa, CA 91702) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31.
