L.A. Wolves FC Gets Defensive in Win Over Valley United SC
AN EARLY OWN GOAL IS PIVOTAL AS THE CLUB EARNS ITS FIRST SHUTOUT OF THE SEASON
March 11, 2017 -- Los Angeles - L.A. Wolves FC accepted a Saturday afternoon game under the sun for the gift that it was.
The club also accepted an own goal - another gift - in the 14th minute before Chuck Pitts tacked on a late insurance goal (81st min.) in a 2-0 victory over Valley United SC at North Hills Heritage High School on Saturday.
L.A. Wolves FC Sporting Director Michael Collins said, "We were a little quiet to start the game and it wasn't clear how we were going to play. We're so dangerous in attack. We're putting teams on their heels and they can't sustain the pressure. That's a reflection of who we are. We're going to play attacking soccer. We're going to score first. We're going to ask questions of our opponents, and now we're getting stronger in the back. Our defense was more active, especially in the second half, which gives our attack even more confidence to go forward. There's a lot of confidence right now."
The club wraps up its three-game road trip to start the season with a game against Santa Clarita Storm at Glendale Sports Complex (2200 Fern Ln., Glendale, CA 91208) at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 19.
